Archdiocesan Annual Appeal

Healthcare Chaplaincy, Catechesis, Social Justice, Lay Ministry Formation, Education of Priests and Seminarians...Each year, the Annual Appeal raises funds in support of over 25 vital pastoral ministry programs and allows our Church to offer outreach and services to all members of our Saskatchewan community. Because the activities of the Church are funded 100% by donations from our community, without your help, these programs would not be possible. Gifts of any size make a difference as we work to come together as a community of servants in Christ's name. Our goal for 2012 is to raise $1,400,000.

A gift for the future.

A Gift for the Future

As those committed to building Christ's Kingdom on Earth today and for the future, there are a variety of tax-smart gift planning options available to Catholics considering their financial support of our work. Read more about how you can create a charitable bequest for your parish or Archdiocese as well as some of the other planning options you may wish to discuss with your family and your advisors.

Quick tip:

Most planned gifts require that you provide the legal name and charitable registration number to your financial or estate advisor. Here's what you'll need:

"Archiepiscopal Corporation of Regina, Regina, Saskatchewan" Charitable Registration # 106720253 RR0001

For gifts to your parish or one of our Appeals, funds, ministries or projects, please contact the Development Office. We will respond within 1 business day.

Professional Advisory Partners

The Archdiocese of Regina has created a list to connect parishioners with professional advisors who understand the Roman Catholic faith and can assist in legal, financial and philanthropic planning.

All advisors who serve clients in the areas of finance, law, insurance and philanthropy are welcome to join the list.

Information from this list will be distributed upon request to Catholic parishioners who wish to make financial or estate plans which benefit the charitable entities of the Archdiocese of Regina. The list will also be used to communicate with advisors to help share information about the Archdiocese and help them network with peers within the Catholic community.

Each parishioner requesting this information will receive a personalized list of advisors who provide services relevant to the desired financial or legal matter within a reasonable travel distance. We send out lists of five to ten advisors at a time.

You are also invited to join our online professional community on our LinkedIn company profile for the Archdiocese of Regina. The list may be included as a searchable directory on our Archdiocesan website at some time in the future – you may opt out of this by contacting our office at any time.

Please note that the Archdiocese of Regina does not interview or endorse any advisor on the list. We encourage all those who request information to speak with several advisors to find the right fit for them.

Message from our Archbishop

Archbishop Daniel BohanDear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

We have just finished celebrating our centennial... 100 years of living our faith as a diocesan church here is southern Saskatchewan.

I returned recently from three weeks vacation which I spent in the Maritimes, visiting with my mother and my family. Many long time friends there ask me: how do you like Saskatchewan? I tell them that I like it. And I do. Since my arrival in Regina I have never felt not at home here. I tell my east coast friends that the people here are a lot like the people in the Maritimes. They have a history of being close to the land. They have gone through hard times and have learned to rely on each other and to help each other.

This sharing and caring by the people of this archdiocese is an expression the way we try to live out Jesus’ commandment: “love one another as I have loved you.” This has made a difference to the lives of our families, friends and neighbors.

Our diocese is setting out into the next one hundred years with a focus, a purpose and a vision. Almost two years ago, we put in place a Pastoral Plan called ‘Implementing the Vision’. We did this because our ‘Vision Quest’ showed us that there are great needs in our diocesan church. These needs call us to a renewal of living our faith and a deliberate strengthening of our faith as the catholic people in southern Saskatchewan.

We have already implemented stewardship as a way of living our faith which will make our parish communities stronger as we share our time, talents and treasure to make the church’s work possible and effective in our communities. We have published revised Guidelines for Parish Pastoral Councils to help the pastoral councils see their important purpose in the church and become more effective in parish life.

To make the vision of our Pastoral Plan a reality, the works, the offices and the groups that are funded by the Annual Appeal need to be able do their work and carry out their ministry.

Together, we need to:

  • Educate our seminarians.
  • Implement adult education programs and improved catechism programs for our children and youth.
  • Provide guidance and direction in the celebration of the liturgy of the church throughout the archdiocese, especially with the upcoming publication of the new missal.
  • Learn how to carry out evangelization, which means reaching out to people who are searching for God in their lives and especially to the many catholics who have drifted away from the church.
  • Help you, the catholic laity, be what our Lord calls you to be as we care for the poor and witness to the good news of Jesus Christ in our own lives.

Will you walk with me on this journey of faith and renewal? Will you also consider supporting the Archdiocesan Annual Appeal to give us the funds we need to help make this vision a reality?

I make this request with sincere confidence that we will all continue that tradition of helping and caring for each other by sharing the gifts that God has given us. I am confident that you, the people of the Archdiocese of Regina will do this with great generosity. When we support the Appeal we make a generous act of faith that brings hope to our diocesan church.

I hope that your faith will inspire you to make this commitment. Please be as generous as you can. If you haven't given to the Appeal before, I invite you to make this year your first. It is really about the giving of our time, talent and treasure so that God’s kingdom will come and God’s will be done.

I thank you and I pray that God will bless you.

Yours Sincerely in Christ,

Daniel J. Bohan

Who doesn’t know that in Canada abortion is an allowable ‘medical procedure’?  Very few, I’m guessing. I also guess that the vast majority of Canadians have never considered how this social contagion has found its way into Canadian society.

This week, I had the opportunity to hang out with some high school students as  we embarked on a  "pilgrimage walk".  We processed through parts of South Regina, with a group of about 70 teenagers, stopping at various points along the way to pray and reflect. We were led by some pretty talented wandering minstrels!
