From Jauary 12th to15th, the WCACYM (the Western Canadian Assoc. of Catholic Youth Ministers) held their annual meeting . Approximately 30 people came together at the Faithful Companions of Jesus Centre in Calgary.


This gathering offered an excellent opportunity for networking, discussions, professional development and personal formation. There was a day of reflection, two days of professional development on a topic of interest to Youth Ministers, and the Annual General Meeting. This year the professional development postion of the weekend was provided by Miles Myers, director of religious education for Regina Catholic Schools. Miles did a wonderful job of taking us through the pastoral document “On Good Soil” and helping us plan to apply it in our ministries. We were well-hosted by the diocese of Calgary with wonderful food, fellowship and even a celebration of Ukrainian New Years, “Malanka” at St. Stephen's Ukrainian Catholic Parish.


The next gathering for WCACYM will take place on Sept. 14-16 when the Archdiocese of Regina will host the fall retreat.
