SUMMARY:Feast of Creation: A New Liturgical Feast for the 3rd Millennium
DESCRIPTION:Christians around the world are exploring the elevation of the “Feast of Creation” (or “Feast of Creation in Christ”) to officially become a liturgical feast in different denominational calendars. After a rich series of ecumenical dialogues in recent years\, the Feast is now starting to be implemented in many churches. And\, it will be officially added to the Revised Common Lectionary used by many churches in North America. \nThis Feast\, to be celebrated on September 1 (or the following Sunday)\, is a precious opportunity for Christians to honour the Triune God as Creator and celebrate the mystery of the creation of all things through Christ. The Feast has its origins in the ancient liturgical tradition of the Eastern Orthodox\, however it was in 1989 that the Byzantine churches invited all Christians to pray together on that special day. An ecumenical process chaired by the World Council of Churches in collaboration with 13 Christian world communions has proposed to elevate the day to become an official liturgical feast in the calendars of non-Byzantine churches. The hope is to celebrate more intentionally this foundational tenet of the Christian faith. Following several international conferences in Assisi over the past two years\, a broad consensus has emerged between many denominations about the importance of this joint step. \nYou are invited to attend a webinar titled “A New Liturgical Feast\, a Gift for the Third Millennium”.
