Christ the King Parish, 3239 Garnet Street
Many of us are fortunate to have fond childhood memories of Christmas, sparkling lights, gleeful anticipation, and fun-filled activities with family, rooted in comforting celebration of faith. But what if your childhood Christmas memories are not filled with peace, joy, and love? For many victims of trauma and abuse, the Christmas season is not met with joyful anticipation but rather with sadness and dread. Join us for a presentation that will increase your understanding of trauma & abuse, including clergy sexual abuse, while offering practical ways of supporting people in the community who are hurting.
This is an educational session presented by Lorie Harrison of Legacy Ridge Inc., a professional counsellor specially trained in trauma and who has been contracted by the Archdiocese of Regina to counsel victims of sexual abuse (including clergy sexual abuse) and help parishes gain a trauma informed perspective.
