Three years ago a prayer service for victims was held at Regina’s St. Cecilia’s parish, attended by Archbishop Don and many others. Since then, over the past three years, many parishes have held services. These services are written by victims and have been attended by many victims. These important and impactful services have allowed victims to have a voice, have led to people openly discuss the topic of clergy sexual abuse, and have allowed those attending to see the wounds that many people carry from hurt within the church. There have been tears, new relationships and a deeper understanding of the pain and sorrow wounds bring. A further step for victims would be for those outside the diocese to hear the voices of victims in these services. The pastoral visit of the Papal Nuncio, Archbishop Luigi Bonazzi, to Regina, provides such an opportunity. On Wednesday, March 11 at 7 p.m., at Holy Trinity Parish, Archbishop Bonazzi will join victims and hear the toll on their lives as it rings out through the words of a victim. The human impact of the services can only be witnessed by attending the services. Please come and experience this deeply moving encounter.
