EWTN to Air Canada’s National March for Life in Ottawa
EWTN Global Catholic Network will provide live coverage of the National March for Life in Ottawa, Canada for the third year in a row beginning at 11:30 a.m. ET, Thursday, May 12, followed by an encore at 1 p.m. ET, Saturday, May 14. “While Canadian law has continued to embrace the culture of death with its support of abortion for any reason, and by embracing physician-assisted suicide, which will become legal this June, its citizens have responded by increasing their support of the National March for Life,” said EWTN Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Michael P. Warsaw. “Last year’s crowd was a record-breaking 25,000, 80% of whom were under the age of 25. EWTN is proud to play a part in Canada’s burgeoning pro-life movement.”
This year, EWTN President & Chief Operating Officer Doug Keck will anchor coverage from EWTN’s studios along with EWTN Chaplain Father Joseph Mary Wolfe, while Jim and Joy Pinto, hosts of EWTN’s “At Home with Jim & Joy,” will provide on-the-ground coverage of the March, whose theme is #endthekilling.
Programming will include all of the speeches as well as interviews with religious and
political leaders on Parliament Hill.
According to Campaign Life, which organizes the annual event, the March “is a forum for pro-life Canadians to demand social justice for the more than 100,000 children who are killed in their mother’s womb each year across Canada. Abortion is fully funded by taxpayers for any reason or no reason at all.”
Canada’s National March for Life began in 1998 with just 700 marchers. This year, organizers hope to top last year’s record-breaking crowd of 25,000.
EWTN Global Catholic Network, in its 35th year, is the largest religious media network in the world. EWTN’s 11 networks broadcast in multiple languages 24 hours a day, seven days a week to over 265 million television households in more than 145 countries and territories.
