Praying For Our Lay Formation Program and Participants

Prayer
I am a strong believer in the power of focused, collective intercessory prayer. On a personal level, prayer has been a powerful force for transformation and change in my own life and in overcoming seemingly insurmountable obstacles in our family. During my years of parish work, every single success was a direct result of the personal and collective prayers of our parish family.
Starting in June I have begun to have a Mass said for our Lay Formation Program and all of it’s participants by a different priest and parish in the Archdiocese each month. I plan to continue this practice into the foreseeable future.

At the same time, I would like to share with you, and humbly beg you to use as often as you can, two forms of prayer for our program that I have integrated into my own prayer life and have asked our current participants to include in theirs;
A Prayer For The Archdiocese of Regina's Lay Formation Program
We praise You, Heavenly Father, source of life and light for your Holy Church. Descend upon the Archdiocese of Regina's Lay Formation Program and establish Your loving domain. Unify our Archdiocese in its support, and call forth those talented and gifted leaders from our communities to both take part in our program and sustain us in prayer.

Bless our priests and bring to their minds those members of their parishes whom you are calling to grow in faith and service. Call those seeking to strengthen their ties with you and your Church.  Help open their hearts to your light without fear so they might experience the joy of the Gospel and be moved to share that joy in their parishes and the world.

Set our Church on fire with love of you; deepen our faith, kindle our hope, enliven our hearts. Walking in the footsteps of your Son Jesus Christ, may we come to know him more deeply, love him more profoundly and serve him more intensely. Help us, Father, through this Lay Formation Program to set the world ablaze with Christ's love!

Seeking the Intercession of Mary and the Saints for the Lay Formation Program
The following short petitionary prayer has become my go-to prayer for our Blessed Mother's help and support in all manner of parish, Church, and life situations.  It involves three repetitions of the Marian Intercessory prayer known as the Memorare - a prayer that Blessed (soon to be Saint) Mother Teresa called her "Express Novena" - coupled with a brief Litany of the Saints. I've included a few saints that I call on regularly as well as those specifically associated with faith formation and Catholic education (Notably Sts. Charles Borromeo, Robert Bellarmine, Elizabeth Ann Seton, and Thomas Aquinas), but you can feel free to add your own patrons as well:

Blessed Virgin Mary and all the Saints, hear our prayers for the needs of the Archdiocese of Regina's Lay Formation Program;

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary; that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. (Repeated 3x)

Saint Joseph, pray for us.
Saint Francis Xavier, pray for us.
Saint Ignatius of Loyola, pray for us.
Saint Terese Lisieux, pray for us.
Saint Charles Borromeo, Pray for us.
Saint Robert Bellarmine, pray for us.
Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, pray for us.
Saint Thomas Aquinas, pray for us.
Saint Peter, pray for us.
Saint Paul, pray for us.
All Holy Men and Women, pray for us.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,  and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and will be forever. Amen.

On behalf of our current program participants and our Lay Formation Team, I am deeply grateful for your on-going support of our efforts to "Go, make disciples!"

Peace and God Bless,
