Our Lady of Victories Roman Catholic Parish hosted an Open Mic Night Fundraiser on Fri-day, Feb. 24. The fundraiser was held to raise money for the victims of war in Aleppo, Syria. The committee wishes to send a huge thank you to all who came out in support of this cause, making it the success it was. The $2,000 raised will go to the Canadian Catholic Association for Development and Peace.
Development and Peace is in partnership with Caritas Syria who are directing humanitar-ian aid such as winter coats, food and medical assistance to the dis-placed people of Syria. Héléne Tremblay-Boyko, Vice President of the National Council of Development and Peace, recently visited Syria as part of a joint delegation of the Canadian Confer-ence of Catholic Bishops. Boyko will be visiting the parish March 26 at 1 p.m. to share her experi-ences in this war torn country. Please note, this is not a catholic issue, this is a humanitarian issue. Everyone is welcome to attend. Come and inform yourself.
