The Catholic Pastoral Centre is looking for a Director of Communications who will work with their direct reports and colleagues in the Communications department on the day-to-day communications and media relations activities for the Catholic Pastoral Centre



·The Director of Communications will develop and execute a comprehensive Catholic Pastoral Centre communication plan and strategy.    


·Assist with the development of overall communications planning based on Catholic Pastoral Centre’s priorities (strategy and execution).

·Oversee and lead day-to-day communications support for the Catholic Pastoral Centre including providing media/communications support for each of the department in the Pastoral Centre.

·Planning and execution of all external communications including media presentations like news conferences.

·Drafting/editing of media materials, including but not limited to news releases, media advisories, program updates, social media, etc.

·Coordinate interview requests and work with the Bishop and Moderator on messaging.

·Monitor media coverage for story trends and reputational impacts, both positive and negative

·Assist with media training of all Catholic Pastoral Centre staff.

·Assist with the production and distribution of communication materials 

·Ensuring that all internal communication is consistent with the pastoral strategic plan.


·Undergraduate degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, or related experience

·At least five (5) years’ experience in all aspects of communications

·Excellent interpersonal skills; promotes cooperation and commitment within a team to achieve goals and objectives

·Motivated, self-disciplined, personable and enthusiastic

·Excellent written and verbal skills

·Strong social media awareness

·Media-training experience 

·Strong leadership skills as well as the ability to work as a team player

·Demonstrated communication skills; ability to use a broad range of communication techniques to effectively communicate to varying audiences in a variety of situations

·Exceptional organizational and time-management skills; ability to balance conflicting priorities in order to manage workflow, ensure the completion of essential projects and meet deadlines

·High level of integrity; earns others’ trust and respect through consistent honesty and professionalism in all interactions

·Demonstrated high level of proficiency in technological skills
