Dear Faithful of the Archdiocese,

Just over two weeks ago, an unverified email was sent to the Papal Nuncio making accusations of sexual misconduct against Archbishop Don. In addition, the originator of this email sent blind copies to a variety of priests and religious throughout the province of Saskatchewan.

In keeping with the guidelines for investigating allegations against a Metropolitan, Bishop Thévenot of Prince Albert, after consultation with the Papal Nuncio, conducted an investigation which found that there was no substance to the allegations. He subsequently issued an explanatory note stating: "In the investigation, we sought to verify the many details mentioned in the allegation. We were not able to verify that such a person existed in that parish at the time, nor were other accusatory statements found to be true. The email did not retrace to the person mentioned. Our findings seem to indicate that this letter was fraudulent."

Due to the wide dissemination of the accusations, Archbishop Don has issued a letter to the people of the Archdiocese of Regina which you will find at the link below.

The official decree, along with the explanatory note issued by Bishop Thévenot can also be found at the links below. --
