Dear pastors, friends, and advocates for life in Christ;

Six years ago, Archbishop Daniel Bohan established the Archdiocesan Commission for Reverence for Life. The Commission, which works in close cooperation with the Archdiocesan Social Justice Office, has as its mandate “the promotion of reverence for human life in all its stages within the Archdiocese of Regina.” The Reverence for Life Commission’s goal is to assist the parishes of the Archdiocese of Regina to better advocate for and promote the dignity of the human person, especially where that dignity is seriously threatened. October has been established as ‘Reverence for Life’ month, a month especially dedicated to the celebrations of the value and dignity of human life in the Archdiocese of Regina.

This year, inspired by the upcoming Synod on the Amazon, we are moving to a paperless Reverence for Life month. The theme for this year’s Reverence for Life materials is ‘Resisting a Throwaway Culture: How a consistent life ethic can unite a fractured people.’ The materials will explore the breadth and interconnectedness of life issues. The political system and societal narratives seem to separate and pin life issues against one another. How do we as Catholics with a holistic understanding of life issues navigate in this world?

The prayer materials will be emailed out through the Archdiocesan Tuesday File from Melissa Gurash at the Chancery office. All other materials will be posted daily (Monday to Friday) throughout the month of October. The materials have been prepared by Dr. Brett Salkeld, the diocesan theologian. They will be available on the Reverence for Life page on the Archdiocesan website:, as well as posted on our Facebook page. This can be found by searching “Archdiocese of Regina” on Facebook. Please encourage your parishioners to follow us for these posts and to stay connected with all our media posts.

In addition to the prayers and reading materials, Campion College is hosting their inaugural Jesuit Lecture. This year, Dr. Charles C. Camosy will be giving a lecture titled, “Resisting Throwaway Culture: How a consistent life ethic can unite a fractured people”. We are partnering with Campion College to promote the lecture, which will be held on Wednesday, October 16th, 2019 at 7:00 pm at the Campion College Auditorium. A poster advertising the lecture has been sent out already and there is the opportunity to host/participate in satellite audiences as well. Please see the Sept 22nd “Archdiocese of Regina Bulletin Announcements” and “2019 Jesuit Lecture Poster” at:

Heartfelt thanks to all the parishes in the Archdiocese for your help and participation in celebrating Reverence for Life Month this October. Together we are working to build and strengthen a culture of life.
Grace and peace,
✠Donald Bolen
Archbishop of Regina
