In the fall of 2019, the Social Justice Commission (SJC) was formed upon the request of Archbishop Don Bolen. The SCJ has undergone a discernment process steeped in scripture, prayer, and the Church’s rich social teachings.  This process has been transformational for all members. We recognize that parishioners across the Archdiocese have strongly held desires and intentions for responding to the Spirit’s call to respond to the Gospel. 

Micah 6:8 calls us to do what is good, “do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.” This is what we aim to do, we would love to walk with you on your journey to follow what the Lord has asked of us.

This past September the SJC held our first public event. It was a great success with members from across the Archdiocese in attendance. We have met again with groups in Canora, Lumsden, Regina, and Shaunavon. We are working alongside these communities to help in any way we can so they can work on the local level to plan, build, and achieve their social justice and charitable goals. 

Another round of consultation will be happening in January as the communities take the Advent and Christmas Seasons to discern the Holy Spirit’s desires for them. We ask that you would pray for us all as we respond to the Gospel.

If we take the time to look around at our world there is no shortage of people in need, those we are called to see Christ in, the unhealthy, homeless, voiceless, traumatized, our Earth, all of our relations in Creation are crying out for justice.
