Our Mission
Our Archives serves the needs of the Archdiocese of Regina in collecting and preserving its official and historical records. These records reflect the work of the Church in the Archdiocese, and are available to its own officers and personnel for purposes related to its ministry.
The Hive
This publication is produced by the Archives of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Regina. It serves as a communication tool for changes, and developments in the department.
- “The Honeycombs” is a featured catalogue of religious items and other materials available
for use in parish settings. - “Buzzfeed” is a column of nifty tidbits that have emerged from work in the Archives.
- “Pollinating Policy” will introduce new administration policies for the Archives, or
highlight existing policy changes.

Our Holdings
The Archives collection contains various types of records with different restrictions on access, in order to respect the confidentiality of the records. There are documents dating back to the late 1800s. Historical records include: administration records, archbishops’ papers, chancery records, parish records, some early sacramental records, and photographs. At this time, the work of classifying and describing our holdings is still in progress. Once records have been processed, they may become available for research purposes.
Archival/Historical Research
Visits to the Archives are by appointment only. Due to time-work restrictions, the Archives is unable to do research for the general public. Serious students of history, or those to whom access is appropriate, may be given access to processed records after obtaining approval from the Chancellor or Archivist. The Archivist will be happy to provide consultation on the writing of parish histories and on the establishment and maintenance of parish archives.
Genealogy Research
The Archives is not available for genealogical research. It does not handle birth or death certificates; for these, contact Saskatchewan Government Vital Statistics, toll-free 800-458-1179. Baptismal records are usually maintained by the parish concerned. Archbishops of Regina
The diocese of Regina was first erected as suffragan see to the Archdiocese of St. Boniface on March 4, 1910. Read about the Archbishops.
Bishops of Gravelbourg
The Diocese of Gravelbourg, established in 1930, was served by seven bishops before being amalgamated with the Archdiocese of Regina in 1998. Read about this unique francophone diocese, with photos of the Bishops.
