The parishioners of Notre Dame d’Auvergne, in Ponteix have been celebrating their yearly pilgrimage since 1934. This year the celebration took place on Sunday July 16th and the theme was, “The Lord Has Done Great Things For Me, And Holy Is His Name”. (Luke 1: 49.) The members of the Archdiocesan Young Adult Leadership Team shared their personal testimonies with the pilgrims and lead the music for Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and the Anointing of the Sick. Ecumenical committee members Lana Hebert, Vic Lavallee, Doug Shepherd, Heather Shepherd, Vicki Mayer and Father Jake Ibay organized an interdenominational service during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Held at Church of Our Lady in Moose Jaw, it began in November, with personal invitations and yellow roses, symbolizing friendship, sent to thirty-six churches in Moose Jaw. Mental health and its ramifications on society were one of two themes explored at the Regina Archdiocesan Catholic Womens’ League (CWL) annual convention held April 26-27 at St. Joseph’s Parish here. Guest speaker Christine Boyczuk, Regional Intersectoral Coordinator for the Five Hills Health Region in south central Saskatchewan used the World Health Organization (W.H.O.) definition of mental health in her talk.
