Growing up in Glenavon, Saskatchewan, Michael’s faith was nurtured through catechism, youth leadership camp, and the Archdiocese’s Lay Formation Program. These experiences helped shape his vocation and his call to a life of service.

Michael’s story reminds us that the opportunities we help make possible today can form the disciples and leaders of tomorrow, people who become instruments of Christ’s peace.

46 Years of Lay Formation

Since 1979, 602 lay people have been commissioned through the Lay Formation Program, including nearly 200 from rural communities. The program helps women and men deepen their faith, discern their gifts, and serve as leaders and evangelizing missionaries across the Archdiocese. Support through the Archbishop’s Appeal helps this important formation continue.

The Archbishop’s Appeal is an annual invitation from the Archbishop to the faithful of our parishes to support the pastoral mission that the Lord Jesus has given us.

Our parishes are a vital part of that mission, but some needs are bigger than any one parish can take on alone. Through the Appeal, we bring our gifts together to support the pastoral work and shared resources that serve both people and parishes across southern Saskatchewan.

The Appeal helps advance our Archdiocese’s pastoral priorities:

• Building vital and viable parish faith communities.
• Living evangelization and discipleship through encounters with Jesus, authentic Christian witness, and the formation of lay leaders and clergy.
• Engaging in dialogue for outreach, justice and reconciliation.
• Growing in faithful and responsible stewardship.

Through the Appeal, we share in the Church’s mission by supporting the broader pastoral work of our Archdiocese, strengthening our parishes, and bringing Christ’s love to the people and communities we serve.

Through weekly diocesan communications, seasonal Lent and Advent resources, the Thinking Faith Podcast, social media, and parish Flocknote networks, our Communications Office shares news, faith resources, and opportunities that connect people with the life and mission of the Church.

485+ Healthcare Pastoral Visits /Month

Healthcare chaplaincy offers prayer, Holy Communion, a listening presence, spiritual support, and care for patients and families. Chaplains also respond to critical care, mental health, and emergency needs, and arrange for the Sacrament of the Sick when requested.

1,000+ Requests for Information Answered Over the Past Five Years

Our Archives Department helps individuals and families discover their history, supports parish and diocesan research, and preserves the story of our Catholic community. From sacramental records to historical inquiries, this work serves people and parishes across the Archdiocese and beyond.

Catechetical Support

Our catechetical support person provides guidance, resources, and ongoing service to catechetical leaders, especially in rural and smaller parishes, helping them share the faith with children and families in their communities.
