Spring is not only a time for planting, new growth, and balmier weather. It is also a season of movement and change as the Archdiocese of Regina announces a new slate of clergy moves, most of which take effect over the summer months.  Several priests from other areas will join our communities this year while others conclude their dedicated service.

Four priests have been welcomed into the Archdiocese of Regina, with two being new to the community and two others returning. Among the newcomers is Reverend Hyacinth Chibua Okafor, CM, from Nigeria and the United States. Reverend Okafor is affiliated with the Congregation of the Missions and arrived in the Archdiocese on January 17, 2023.

Also joining the Archdiocese is Reverend Joseph Rey Mendoza Villamartin from the Diocese of Virac in the Philippines. Reverend Villamartin arrived on May 11, 2023, bringing his diverse experiences and devotion to serving the community.

The Archdiocese of Regina also welcomes back two returning priests: Reverend Michal Pajak from the Polish Province of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate in Canada and Reverend Leonardo Tamayo. Their previous contributions to the Archdiocese have been greatly appreciated, and their return is greeted with open arms.

As these new and returning priests assume their roles, the Archdiocese extends its gratitude.

The Archdiocese of Regina would also like to express appreciation for the ministry of Reverend Vincent Borre, who has retired and is returning to the Philippines after serving in Oxbow; additionally, Msgr. Reymundo Asis embarks on his retirement from active ministry after 12 years of service in the Archdiocese.

We acknowledge the dedicated service of Reverend Andrew Pawlowicz and Reverend Lawrence DeMong, who have dutifully served the people of God in Regina for many years. Reverend Pawlowicz will be returning to his home Diocese in Poland, while Reverend DeMong is heading back to St. Peter’s Abbey in Muenster.

Finally, the Archdiocese remembers the late Reverend Hector Seville, who served faithfully for many years. We continue to pray for the peaceful repose of his soul, cherishing the legacy of his dedicated service.

May God bless all our priests as they carry out their ministries with dedication, generosity, and joy.
