A message from Regina Catholic School Board Trustees and Sean Chase, Director of Education to the faithful of the Ardiocese:
Blessings from Regina Catholic Schools!
As we begin a new school year, we want to thank our clergy, Parish staff, Archdiocesan staff, and all our Parish communities for your support and prayers over the past year and a half. The COVID-19 virus brought major changes to the way we gather to pray and learn. Your encouragement and the power of prayer helped fill the distance the virus demanded.
While life during a pandemic was difficult, we still had a lot to celebrate. Parental choice was supported when the Supreme Court of Canada ended a years’ long court case aimed at limiting Catholic education in Saskatchewan. This decision allows us to fulfill our mission of working with the community and the local Church to provide a quality Catholic education that fosters academic excellence and the development of informed, responsible citizens. We connected with our Parishes virtually. We safely hosted in-person visits with clergy and Elders to support our students and staff.
Our three-year faith initiative is Know, Love, Serve. The emphasis for the 2021-2022 school year is on the concept of love. We will explore the ways we love God. How can our students and staff show their love of Jesus to others? How can we show our love to all our students, staff, and communities? As directed by our health advisors, we are excited to welcome our clergy, Elders, and volunteers back in our buildings this year. Their support will be essential as we learn more about the greatest gift from our Creator: love.
Thank you for your support for over 120 years of high-quality Catholic education in the Regina community. We appreciate all your prayers as this new school year begins. Please continue this journey with the Regina Catholic School Division at www.rcsd.ca. You can also find us on Twitter @RCSD_No81 and Facebook (Regina Catholic Schools) for regular updates, photos, videos, our Director’s Communiqué and new this year, our School of the Week.
Yours in Christ,
Vicky Bonnell Sean Chase
