One of the duties that bring so much pleasure to the recipients as well as the sender are Catholic Women’s League certificates of recognition for Long-Standing Membership and Council Anniversaries.

Every year a number of members are recognized and appreciated for their years of service to their parishes, councils and the League. It is my privilege to send a certificate on behalf of the Regina Diocesan Catholic Women’s League and Reverend Thomas Mutavanattu, Diocesan Spiritual Advisor to our long-standing members and councils celebrating a significant anniversary.

These are the recipients for long-standing membership in the CWL:

65-year member, Lorraine Longeau, St. Joseph, Indian Head

70-year member, Elaine Williamson, St. Joseph, Indian Head

60-year member, Marge Appell, St. Cecelia, Regina

60-year member, Emma Young, St. Cecelia, Regina

50-year member, Carol Van De Woestyne, St. Cecelia, Regina

The Catholic Women’s League formed it’s first council, Holy Rosary CWL in the Regina Diocese in 1919 with dozens that formed year after year across the diocese. Many of those councils are still in existence and continue their mission of faith, service and social justice.

These CWL councils in our diocese will be celebrating a milestone anniversaries this year:

95 years, Little Flower, Regina

70 years, St. Joseph, Langenburg

70 years, St. Monica, Bienfait

95 years, St. John the Baptist CWL, Estevan

100 years, St. Vincent de Paul

Requiem Aeternam:

On May 1st, 2026, on behalf of the Regina Diocesan Executive and CWL, a Mass of Remembrance officiated by Father Thomas, was offered for the repose of the soul of our sister Debbie Bulych, President of Holy Trinity CWL and co-president of the Regina Region. A note of remembrance, notice of the Mass and condolences was sent to the family and Holy Trinity council.

Our mission statement speaks to the purpose and the passion that we share as sisters

in the League:

The Catholic Women’s League of Canada

calls its members to grow in faith,

and to witness to the love of God

through ministry and service.

In peace, for God and for Canada.
