When we experience God, do we honestly recognize the moment it happens? Or is it lost in the business of our lives, the hurrying to get things done so we can begin another job? No time to smell the roses as the saying goes.
God walks with us each day of our lives, even if we are not aware. Sometimes those ‘aha’ moments happen when we least expect them. We look with disgust at the yellow dandelions showing their faces in our beautifully kept lawns, and then a bumblebee arises out of the blossom. Do we look at the weed or do we look on God’s work of the bee, the continuation of plant growth.
As spring continues into summer, we see God’s handiwork all around us. The violent thunderstorm which may bring hail and wind damage, but also brings needed moisture. And after the rain, a beautiful rainbow of many colours, stretching across the sky from horizon to horizon.
There was another story about a rainbow long ago, and something about a covenant with God. Each morning and each night, God is about with the beauty of creation with the sunrise and the sunset. The evening sky filled with beautiful sparkling stars and the moon shining down that makes the dark no so dark. The beautiful northern lights as they dance across the northern skies. The song of the spring birds as they build their nests to continue their lives into the future, the work of God with them. The beautiful wildflowers as they dance along the roadways and meadows, and give us the pleasant perfume on a spring morning. The birth of a child and the continuance of family and creation. The hug of a friend when it seems so hard to continue with this journey? The encouraging words given when we stumble and the words of love given when we arise to our feet?
Remember, God is all around us. God is always with us as we walk this journey of life, be it what it is, God is there.
So, remember the next time you are outside and a butterfly lands on your arm. God is saying, “Be strong, better days are coming.” When a robin sings from the treetop, God is saying, “Be happy you are alive, and I love you.” When the day turns dark, God is saying “have patience, after the dark comes the light and new promises.”
When do we experience God? Every day, if we would only take the time to look around and enjoy the work of God.
Look! God is there waiting for us to recognize His works and to be thankful for the love given without charge.
God’s Blessings.
